Local crime

Below are the recorded burglaries and vehicle crime that took place between the 23/08/25 to the 31/08/25.

Burglaries:

There have been no burglary reports between the dates stated above 

Vehicle crime:

- Between the times of 00:39am and 00:40am on the 27/08/25 there was a Attempted theft of a Black Nissan Navara that was parked at Blackford Rd, Shirley, where by the unknown persons have attempted the Vehicles door handles but where unsuccessful.

- Between the times of 16:50pm and 17:20pm on the 28/09/25 there was a theft of a Van that was parked at David Lloyd Leisure Club, Shirley, where an unknown person has gained entry and taken items from inside.

Crime prevention advice

-  Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Installing an immobiliser and covert tracking device will also increase the chance of getting your vehicle back should it be stolen.

-  Please don’t leave valuable items on show inside your vehicle. Even loose change can be appealing to vehicle offenders.

- Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent. Try to make the front and rear of your property as well-lit as possible by installing motion activated lighting.

- CCTV is a great deterrent for offenders. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes.

Local news

-  Home Office funding is provided to West Midlands Police to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in areas that are identified as having a high rate of these incidents. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us.

CCTV REGISTRY

We need more people to register their home or business CCTV and doorbell cameras to help solve crime by providing footage when alerted.

- Thursday 18th August 2025 between 19:00pm and 20:00pm: Our local officers will be holding a Shirley South Beat Surgery at The Village Hotel, Dog Kennel Lane, B90 4JG. This gives you a great opportunity to meet members of your local policing team and discuss any policing issues that are affecting you in the Shirley South area.
