Op Taurus - Shoplifting operation

Firstly, I hope you have all had a relaxing summer. I wanted to take this time to tell you about a recent borough wide operation in which all of our teams were involved:

Operation Taurus

Last week, all of the Barnet Safer Neighbourhoods Teams contributed to three days of activity targeting our most prolific shoplifters. Alongside one of the Barnet proactive policing teams we made 23 arrests, leading to 123 charges for shoplifting.

The tactics included plain clothed patrols in our retail areas from High Barnet to Cricklewood, utilising council CCTV to identify offenders in our high streets and also making a number of early morning arrests.

Tackling shoplifting will remain a priority for the North Barnet wards, and we are committed to working with our partners to keep our shopping areas safe and welcoming for everyone.
