Longford Updates

Dear Residents and Local Businesses,

Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:

PATROLS

Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations, such as Riley Square, that have recently experienced an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour.

BURGLARY

We have had one burglary this week in the Longford area.

A residential property was broken into on Woodshires Road. This occurred between 01:10 and 01:20 on 26/08/2025. No items were stolen during this incident and the offender was disturbed by a neighbour. If you heard or saw anything that may be suspicious, please contact us on 101 quoting 20/355737/25.

We will continue to pay some passing attention for reassurance to residents. For crime prevention advice on how to keep your homes safe, you can visit our website here: Keeping your shed or garage safe and secure | Crime prevention | West Midlands Police

VEHICLE CRIME

We are continuing to see vehicle crime in the Longford area.  We have had one theft of motor vehicle.

The theft of motor vehicle occurred on Singer Close between 20:00 on 26/08/2025 and 08:00 on 27/08/2025 where a vehicle was parked on the road and stolen without keys. If you have heard or seen anything, please contact us on 101 referencing 20/357305/25.

There has also been an increase in keyless vehicles being stolen alongside vehicles being broken into and tools stolen from within. We recommend that owners of these vehicles use a steering wheel lock to prevent against theft and to remove any tools from their vehicles when the vehicle is not in use.

You can find out more about vehicle crime prevention here: Theft of motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) and here: Theft from motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk)

STREETWATCH

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in a local Streetwatch group within the Longford and Bell Green areas - if you would like more information or if you're interested in joining, please contact Streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk with your name, telephone number and postcode.

SPEEDWATCH

Residents have asked us to conduct a Speedwatch session in the Longford area. We conducted this yesterday on Lentons Lane. We recorded 16 vehicles, and 4 of those were doing over the 30mph speed limit. The highest recorded was 42mph. Those speeding will be receiving letters in the post soon.
