Police: Update on tonight's shift

Good evening Rutland North 🌙

It’s been a busy one out on shift tonight across our beautiful (and very soggy!) county 🚓🌧️

🚨  Emergency Response – Car on its Side

I was first on scene to a vehicle that had lost control and ended up on its side on one of our rural roads on the beat. The driver had hit a slippery patch on a bend — a stark reminder of how greasy it is out there tonight. Thankfully, the occupants were not injured, but it could have been much worse. Please, please drive to the conditions. Wet rural roads don’t mix well with speed! ⚠️

🚨 Alarm Activation

I also responded to a monitored intruder alarm at a premises in Rutland. I arrived within minutes of the call and was pleased to find it was a false alarm. Better safe than sorry — but a good reminder to keep your alarm systems maintained and remember to switch them on.

🚔 Patrols Across the Patch

I’ve been out after dark across several of our rural villages tonight (more than pictured), keeping an eye out for anything suspicious and checking in on the local priorities for my beat on the Rutland North: road safety, burglary and rural crime.

💡 Crime Prevention Tip

With darker evenings creeping in, now’s the time to check your security lighting, lock up sheds, outbuildings, and keep valuables out of sight. Opportunists love an easy win — let’s work together and not give them one.

🚗 Road Safety Reminder

Tonight’s incident is a timely one — slow down, increase your stopping distance, and take extra care on bends and narrow lanes. It’s not just about your safety, but everyone else’s too.

📬 The August Rutland North beat newsletter will be sent in the next day or two, so keep an eye out in your inbox for that! And, at the end of next month I will be setting the quarterly priorities again, so please take 2 minutes to complete the ‘Your Views’ survey below to let us know what you think we should be focusing on.

Stay safe (and dry) out there Rutland North — and as always thank you for being the eyes and ears of our community 🤝
