Weekly update

Hello Resident, I hope you are well.

We would like to update you on what we have been doing in the Bartley Green area this week:

. Officers have attended a street watch walk where we were able to patrol around the Jiggins lane and the surrounding area, where we have been able to speak with members of the public about what we do.

Officers have met up and spoken with a community champion at the Asda on Barnes hill to speak about issues in the area what are present to help officers be made aware.

In the past week, we have received a two report’s of a theft of a motor vehicle in the area. We advise you to make sure that you have the necessary measures to keep your vehicle and belongings safe. This can be done by making sure that any valuables are taken out of the car to limit the chance of people breaking into your vehicle to steal any items. We also advise you to take out any bags or but the bags out of sight, as people may think that valuables are in the bag and will break in to steal the bag and the belongings inside them if they think there could be value to steal.

We have also had two reports of homes being broken into in the area. We advise you to take the necessary measures to keep your home safe and secure. You can do this by locking your doors and windows to help keep the property secure. You can also install Anti-snap locks what will help make your doors leading into the home more secure and less likely to be broken into. We also advise you to purchase and install CCTV cameras as this can help deter people from trying to gain entry into your property. It also helps be able to get a clear picture of the individual if they did try to gain entry to your home making it easier for officers to identify the suspect.

I would also like to remind you of our next Cuppa with a copper meeting down at Milebrook hall on field Lane, where officers will attend at 10:00 AM and will see us leave at 11:00 AM. This allows you to come down and speak to the officers who are present to speak about issues in the community and to ask any questions for officers.

We still encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us solve crimes by providing us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This not only helps us solves crimes, but it also helps to keep your community safer.

You can use the link below, what takes you to our web page where you can register your CCTV cameras by putting in your details. This helps officers be able to get in contact with you if they believe your CCTV camera has potential digital footage of a crime being committed, as they can see the local area where has crime has took place, and see your CCTV camera present in that area. This will help officers in dealing with crimes more quickly and swiftly, what will then allow them to do more jobs, helping to make the community a safer place.

We are still experiencing an increase of demand from across the area over the last few weeks, with more people calling and asking for help. Our staff are working extremely hard to answer and respond to your calls and live chats. But due to the high demand it can cause callers to have to wait longer than they should, what if something neither of us want at all. We prioritize your enquires/calls based on how urgent they are, but we always appreciate that you want help as soon as possible.

In Non-emergencies circumstances, we want you to get in contact with us through the live web chat, or the Non-emergency telephone 101.

If your circumstances are emergencies, then please call 999.

We are still looking to recruit for the Street watch initiative. For further information please visit the WMP website for details.

You can use the link below what will take you to our page where the necessary steps to register your interest in the street watch programme, can be made.
