Vehicle crime update & Crime prevention advice

Dear Residents, 

Recently all three Chiswick Wards teamed up to target motor vehicle crime across Chiswick as part of Operation Automotive. Its only been a few days and we are already achieving some good results! Two people arrested, one on recall to prison and one for criminal damage to a vehicle and going equipped to steal. We've had a number of stop and searches and patrolled hot spot areas in marked and unmarked cars, and we are conducting plain clothes patrols in these areas too. 

We continue to encourage residents to report anything suspicious, such as - we are seeing an increase of people on fast moving motorised bikes with full face coverings looking into vehicles and smashing windows in order to collect items. 

In order to avoid your car being a target please do not leave items on display such as bags, laptops and anything valuable. 

Consider buying a steer lock to prevent car thefts and if you have a keyless vehicle - look into investing in a faraday box for your keys this will prevent them from being able to copy the key signal.
