Story of the week ! |

Good afternoon,
Living in an area where drug dealing takes place can be an unpleasant experience. Drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and discarded drug paraphernalia can be a health risk and counts as antisocial behavior.
On the 28th of AUGUST officers from BARNET SNT were patrolling the area of SILKSTREAM PARK HA8 looking for a wanted offender. The area is very well known for its blatant drug misuse and the presence of dealers using the bridge in the middle of the park as a meeting point. Officers in plain clothes put in a stop on the bridge for a male we recognized as being involved in the drugs supply in the area whilst respective purchasers watched on eagerly. Following a vicinity search officers found a snap bag containing approx. 40 wraps of crack cocaine/heroin and a lock knife which were conveniently hidden on the bridge. A helpful member of public alerted officers to a second suspected dealer who has seen officers and made off through the park, went into a bush and had been seen to discard an item before walking off. A detailed description was acquired and approx. 20 minutes later the suspect was seen again in the park. The suspect had no intention of speaking to officers and a foot chase was initiated by officers who caught up with the male and detained him. A police dog was requested to search for any discarded property in the bush where the second suspect was seen to hide items. A great find by Police dog Mia led to the discovery of black plastic bag containing drugs.
Second suspect was also arrested for possession with the intend to supply.
In total approx. 120 wraps of Class A drugs were recovered – hopefully disrupting the drug supply in the area.
We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible. Drug dealing and taking is a key priority we are committed to tackle.
Kind regards, Colindale Safer Neigbourhoods Team
