Piccadilly Gardens Patrol: Lucky Number Seven for Local Police |
||
The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a high-visibility foot patrol in the city centre today, resulting in the arrest of seven offenders for a range of serious offences.
Those taken into custody were wanted in connection with burglary, criminal damage, indecent assault, breach of court bail, begging, public order offences and outstanding warrants. Officers carried out the operation as part of their ongoing commitment to tackling crime and antisocial behaviour in and around the Gardens, an area that attracts heavy footfall daily.
Sergeant Jon Wyatt of the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Today’s patrol shows the effectiveness of being visible and engaging directly with the community. Offenders may think they can slip through the cracks in a busy area like Piccadilly Gardens, but our approach is to splatter the pressure across all fronts – from low-level antisocial behaviour to serious offences. We want people to know that if they commit crime here, we will find them.”
The team added that patrols will continue throughout the coming weeks, with a focus on both enforcement and community reassurance.
Police are encouraging members of the public to report any concerns via the 101 non-emergency number or by using the Live Chat function on the Greater Manchester Police website. | ||
