Arrest of drug dealer |
||
Over the last several weeks the St Pancras Way Estate NW1 has been experiencing a high level of drug activity: Drug addicts loitering in the estate, drug addicts loitering in the children’s play area, drug addicts defecating in the green area, leaving rubbish and causing noise pollution late at night. Two addresses in the estate were being used as drug dens and were being frequented daily by drug dealers. Police also had concerns about possible cuckooing offences at these addresses.
Previously on 04/08/2025 Camden Council and Camden Square Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a joint visit to both addresses in the estate. The council took strong actions and closed and boarded up one of the addresses as well as gaining entry and conducting enquiries at the second.
On 12/08/2025 at 4pm Camden Square Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted a patrol in the Estate. Officers conducted a check at the second address. During this officers detained a male known to them for drug supply. The male attempted to be violent towards officers. He also attempted to run off preventing officers from searching him. A brief struggle has ensued but eventually the male was overpowered and placed in hand cuffs and searched. Police recovered a small amount of drugs believed to be Heroin. This male was subsequently arrested for drugs supply. He was later bailed from the police station. As part of his bail conditions this male is now banned from entering the St Pancras Way Estate until mid-November 2025.
Today Police were accompanied by Clare Pask (Police ward panel chair) and have conducted discussions in the Estate. The feedback from residents is that drug activity and crime has significantly reduced since the arrest. Police will continue patrols in the estate and further work is still needed. Whilst there are never any easy or quick solutions to crime/anti-social behaviour, residents should be confidant that Camden Square Policing team will work hard to limit the effects of crime on the Ward. Police will continue proactive uniformed and plain clothed patrols throughout the Ward and suspects involved in lowing the standard of living in the area will continue to be challenged, searched and if necessary arrested.
