Vehicle Crime Alert

Resident,

Don't give thieves an easy ride - motorbike theft is on the increase!

Is your motorbike a target for thieves?

Prevent opportunistic thieves from striking by:

  • Storing the motorbike in a locked garage where possible.
  • If you can't store it in a garage, locking it through the wheel and frame to an immovable object such as a bike rack, a lamppost or a tree in a place that is well-lit, in view of others and CCTV cameras.
  • Fitting approved security devices or having an insurance improved combined alarm/immobiliser such as a Thatcham.
  • Using a large motorbike chain lock or motorbike cable lock secured to an immovable object, such as a ground anchor, a lamppost, or another bike.
  • Insuring your bike either on home contents insurance or separately.
  • Putting together a motorbike passport with all the details of your bike along with any receipts, warranties or photos.
  • Marking your motorbike with your vehicle identification number (VIN).
  • Register your Bike via www.bikeregister.com as this will help it to be identified.
  • If stolen, use social media to alert people that may have useful  information.
  •

Be extra vigilant and stay safe!
