Local Priorities Violence against women and girls Concern FISHPONDS UPDATE

I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

As you may be aware, an allegation of rape was made last week at Fishponds, Surbiton which led to the arrest and charge of three males. The investigation is ongoing but at this stage it is believed that there are no further outstanding suspects.

On a local Policing level, in the days since this incident was reported the three teams closest to Fishponds (Surbiton Hill SNT, Berrylands SNT & St Marks SNT) have been conducting regular reassurance patrols of the park while on duty, and mobile night duty Police Officers have been told to incorporate the park into their patrols for the time being.

Fishponds, along with all local open spaces, should be an area that all residents can enjoy safely and we intend to make sure that this is the case.

If you have any related concerns please speak to us if you see us out on patrol, contact us via Met Engage or by emailing berrylands.365group@met.police.uk

If you have any immediate concerns regarding the conduct of anyone in the park, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency.

We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years, and we want to make sure you have had the chance to have your say. The consultation paper is available online, as well as a survey to let us know what you think. This closes on the 15 September.
