(Two) Weekly Round-up!

Good Evening Resident,

As promised, I'm back from my holidays with a two week update this time, so we have lots to catch up on. It sounds like City Centre officers have had a busy time while I've been away so lets see if we can get our head around all this news together.

I'm going to break this down into two separate sections and i'll date them as necessary to help keep it simple and clear.

First off we will start with the week between the dates of 14/08/2025 and 19/08/2025.

What’s Been Happening

Arrests – During our first week, City Centre officers made a total of 6 arrests within the City, these arrests were for varying offences including Robbery, Public Order, Theft and even an arrest being made in relation to the shooting that occurred in July! An individual was also arrest on a recall to prison.

Community Protection – Our officers managed to deter 3 individuals in different locations this week in their attempt to commit shop theft, one of these individuals being a regular offender. We are currently still searching for a young male and female that have stolen £260 worth of vinyls from HMV within the Mander Centre, unfortunately there were able to get away before officers arrived at the scene.

Community Engagement – PC Evans and PC Gibbons were at the Yorkshire Building Society on Friday 15th August to engage with customers and deliver a Fraud Talk. This served to advise customers on how to keep themselves safe when using ATMs, banking in branch, dealing with cold callers and also how to shop safely online. As you can see below, people were happy to stop and have a chat.

Guardian Patrols – The usual patrols around the City Centre this week with no issues to report, officers continued with their High Visibility patrols and walkthroughs of retail premises to provide reassurance.

Night-Time Economy – No Night Time Economy this week for my team.

Thats it for week one, now we can turn our attention to the week commencing the 23rd until today.

What’s Been Happening

Arrests – A whopping 11 arrests were made this week by city centre officers. Suspects were brought to custody for crimes including Assault, Rape, Harassment, Public Order, Possession of an offensive weapon and Possession with intent to Supply. Its been a busy one this week, and well done to PCSO Barclay who spotted a suspect wanted for a serious assault who was quickly arrested and taken to custody for questioning.

Community Protection – Two officers carried out some plain clothes patrols today in an attempt to see any of the regular individuals who are subject to Community protection warning/notices and monitor their behaviour. I can happily say that a lot of these individuals are no longer loitering in the city and we have seen a reduction in vagrancy recently, especially on Dudley Street.

Community Engagement – PCSO Wykes and Shotton were on hand this week to host a Crime Prevention Stand in the Wulfrun Centre. We saw plenty of new faces and loved seeing all the children taking part in colouring activities, being rewarded with stickers and even taking away some Police Activity Books. We had over 200 people come along and have a chat, because of this we are currently in the process of organising an event for Halloween/Bonfire Night so look out for news on that in the near future.

Guardian Patrols –  The regular patrols this week focusing on Dudley Street, Victoria Street, St Peters Gardens and Queen Street. No issues to report for the patrols this week but we are expecting that this may change when all the kids go back to school next week and Uni starts up again.

Night-Time Economy – No NTE this week as our officers were on the early shift on Saturday and Sunday.

What to Watch – As many people enjoy our Cuppa with a Copper meetings but are unable to make it due to working commitments, I can confirm that our next scheduled meeting on Wednesday 24th September will be between the hours of 4.30pm and 6.30pm. This will hopefully allow more of our community members to come out and have a chat with us.

Don’t forget about bringing your little ones to Seaside in the City, located on Victoria Square at the end of August, i have a post coming shortly with all the details you'll need of the event.

Upcoming Events (All future events will be announced with a WMNow post)

13/09/2025 – CRIME PREVENTION STAND, ART GALLERY.

24/09/2025 – CUPPA WITH A COPPER, CENTRAL LIBRARY.

Thanks for reading and I’ll be back to sending out updates when I return from annual leave.

Please share this on Social Media and continue to look out for further updates from the team on our X (formerly twitter) page @WolvesPolice
