As the cooler months are approaching I have been made aware that the Winter fuel payment scams are back and being sent via text messages and phone calls. If you are eligible to receive a payment then you do not need to click any links or reply to any messages. Payments will be made automatically.

What to do if you receive a message..

Stop and Think Fraud

Do not click a link

Do not fill in any of your personal details

Report the message through the Action Fraud Website or you can forward the text to 7726 spam for free.

Forward the email to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk

Share the warning with friends and family especially those who you feel maybe at risk.

Delete the message

What to do if you feel you have been scammed..

Please try not to panic but contact your bank immediately

Remember you are not the first person to have made a mistake and you will not be the last.
