Local Priorities Anti Social Behaviour Message

Please review the following update regarding Anti Social Behaviour which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

ROUGE TRADER ALERT- PLEASE BE AWARE.

We've received a report of rouge traders targeting an elderly resident. A man attended an address claiming he needed access to their back garden as he was ''working on their neighbours trees''. Once inside the garden he proceeded to cut down a small tree without permission then attempted to demand large amounts of money in payment.

Bogus callers often pretend to be reputable tradesmen to try convince you to have unnecessary
work done or to accept a service they offer.

They may ask for payments upfront or charge large amounts of money even offering to take you to a bank to withdraw cash.

PLEASE REMEMBER

- Genuine tradespeople will never start work without your agreement.
- Never be pressured into paying for work you did not ask for.
- Always check their identity- use the phone number advertised in the phone book or online, as the number on their ID card could be fake. Close the door while you do this.
- Remember genuine callers wont mind checks.

IF IN DOUBT ,KEEP THEM OUT.

If you see or rouge traders or you are approached in a similar way, Please report it to Police on 101 (or 999 in an emergency) and Trading Standards via Citizens advice on 0808 223 1133.

Lets keep our West Heath community safe by looking out for our elderly and vulnerable neighbours.

Antisocial behaviour can come in many forms and can require support from more organisations than just the police. There are 13 different types of antisocial behaviour that we may be able to help with, including abandoned vehicles, littering or drugs paraphernalia and street drinking. A full list of what we categorise as antisocial behaviour is available on our website.

If you have witnessed or experienced antisocial behaviour, you can report it online.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
