Firefighters urge "don't decorate your hob!"

It might look stylish on Instagram, but in real life, it’s a serious fire risk.

Last year, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended 118 cooking fires started because people used their hob as a worktop.

We’ve seen fires caused by:

  • Ceramic vases
  • Houseplants
  • Candles
  • Tea towels and oven mitts
  • And the most common… air fryer baskets
  • All left on hobs that were still warm - or accidentally switched on.

If it’s not for cooking, it doesn’t belong on your hob.

Keep it clear. Keep it safe.
