Burbage Police Weekly Update. Reporting Crime, Allotments And Stay Alert To Suspicious Behaviour. |
||
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Just a quick update for the last few days in Burbage as we head into the bank holiday and return to school.
Reported Crime and Appeals
No new reports of crime such as burglary or vehicle theft over recent days. August has overall been a good month so far with minimal reports of these types of crime. We are getting occasional reports of suspicious activity which may be linked to vehicle and motorbike thefts, but please ensure that if you witness a crime in progress (suspects in balaclavas overnight or early morning for example), call 999 emergency immediately. Your call could prevent someone from a burglary or vehicle theft.
If you need to report an incident, there are several options as to how to do this. 999 Emergency (If you require an immediate emergency response) examples are, to protect life, protect property if the suspects are still on scene, or the incident is in progress. 101 Non-emergency can be used if the incident does no require an emergency Police response. Online at Home | Leicestershire Police If you want Police contact that does not require and emergency response, reporting online is a easy and convenient way of reporting to the Police. On completion, you will get a reference number often followed by a crime number. Your report will then be allocated to an officer to contact you.
If you have any questions, want advise, wish to raise any concerns or just have a chat, we welcome you contacting local officers directly, but if you wish to report crime that you want investigating, we ask it is done through one of the above methods so that your report can be assessed and allocated in a timely manner. we are getting reports where for example, 999 should have been called at the time but when we get notified locally of issues hours or days later, the opportunity to challenge or identify those involved has long gone. This is mainly relevant to suspicious activity. If you identify this activity late, due to finding it on your CCTV, and no crime has been committed, please forward the footage on to us as it may link in to other crime and will help us target locations for patrols. darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
Youths were stopped whilst officers were patrolling the allotments off Brookside. A small amount of Cannabis found and the relevant action has been taken, including contact with parents and safeguarding work.
We attended the Co-op for our monthly beat surgery. It was a pleasure to speak to lots of local residents. Whilst there, a vulnerable male was identified and safeguarding work has been completed to try and get the support he needs.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Whilst crime figures are low in Burbage so far this month in relation to the usual issues that are of community concern, please stay alert and ensure you keep your homes and vehicles locked and secure. If you have a motorbike, be vigilant as to where you are leaving it and use bulky locks, garage/shed alarms and whatever else you can do to make a criminals like that little bit more difficult.
With the schools returning this week, we will be completing patrols as and when we can but we ask that motorists, be considerate of local residents and help keep children safe by not parking on footpaths, blocking driveways and parking on junctions. There is much more I could mention around school parking but lets stay positive for the new school year.
We hope you have a great Bank Holiday weekend.

If your call isn't an emergency, see if the information or service you need is on our website www.leics.police.uk. before you call 101. You can use our website to report crimes or incidents at a time convenient for you. We urge you to call 999 in an emergency - if you or someone else are in immediate danger, or a crime is in progress.
