Robbery and Knife Crime Suspects Arrested in Piccadilly Gardens

Officers from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood team have been working hard over the weekend, making a number of key arrests that have helped to keep the city centre safe.

In one incident, a teenage male was arrested after being found in possession of a bladed article. He has since been charged and bailed to attend court. This individual is believed to be one of the main robbery suspects in the area, and his arrest represents a significant step forward in tackling violent crime.

Another teenage male was arrested on suspicion of carrying out a knife-point robbery which took place in Piccadilly Gardens on 17th August. When officers detained him, he was found to be in possession of a balaclava, gloves and a quantity of Class B drugs.

On top of this, two offenders who were wanted on recall to prison were successfully located and arrested. A prolific female offender was also arrested for breaching a court order, further demonstrating the team’s commitment to addressing persistent criminality in the city centre.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood team, said:

“These arrests send a clear message that we will not tolerate crime and anti-social behaviour in Piccadilly Gardens. My officers have been proactive and determined in targeting those who cause harm to our community. The work carried out this weekend shows the value of visible policing, intelligence-led operations, and the ongoing partnership with the public to make Manchester a safer place.”

The Piccadilly Gardens policing team continue to work closely with local partners and members of the public to reduce crime, protect vulnerable people, and ensure the city centre remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
