Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. What’s been happening: Another week of some successful results in South Yardley. We requested for Parking enforcement to attend the Yew Tree around the business and residents’ concerns of parking and they conducted this and issued 12 penalty charge notices on the following roads Church Road, Hobmoor Road car park, Hobmoor Road, Stoney Lane and Yew Tree lane. We will be continuing this partnership work to enforce any parking concerns and issues the area is having. We know a few residential streets are having similar issues and we are issuing tickets and also speaking to vehicle owners if those vehicles come back to a local address. We worked in partnership with Environment officers from Birmingham City Council and was able to seize a Toyota C-HR for being involved in Fly tipping in the area 3 times! If you see anyone doing this or have any evidence of this, send this in and we will do everything we can to locate the individual involved to put a stop to this behaviour on our streets. Business Watch letters have been issued to all businesses at the Yew Tree and Swan Shopping Centre for the coming month. We do hope more businesses are able to get involved in shaping a better future for all. Empowered Steps took place and we had a few attendees and they found this useful to raise their concerns and off load any frustrations and be heard. This is vital for everyone to feel this way in the community and we are seeking more to come along to these or email us or request a drop in to discuss their concerns. We are very grateful to those that attended and we hope to see more in the community attend in the future. We are continuing to tackle the begging in and around the area. Main areas appear to be Coventry Road, Yew Tree and around the Swan Shopping Centre. Where possible they are being issued Community Protection Warnings (CPW) and we are escalating them should their conditions be breached to a Community Protection Notice (CPN). This will carry officers’ powers of arrest to reduce this happening in the area. We are asking those that wish to give those money to seek other resources to support those in need. This can be through Billy Chip https://www.billychip.com/how-it-works or other local support. All involved are being offered services to support them and their individual needs from us and partner agencies. If you know anyone in need of support for being homeless or if they have addictions; we have a drop-in session on every Wednesday at 12:00 at Acocks Green Police station on Alexander Road and Acocks Green Baptist Church also offers tea and coffee mornings at the same time. We are currently in the process of organising more Litter picking days, Brew with the Crew and Speed Watch. If there is anything you wish to get involved in let us know and we will ensure you are aware and get all the information to come along and get involved. We have been involved in community work at one of the local churches, discussing our carbon footprint, faith, energy and the community coming together and getting creative. This involved members of the community; adults and children to get creative with drawing and creating a large poster containing everyone's personal touch. This was amazing to be a part of again seeing the community come together in unity.
