Traffic Operation - Sunday 24th August 2025

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Speeding traffic / hazardous driving, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Following on from continued concerns from our community regarding anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes and cars and our successful traffic operation earlier in the month, officers from your local Safer Neighbourhood Team conducted another operation today - Sunday 24th August 2025.

We situated ourselves both on Sheffield Road, Glossop and in Bamford, as a result, 111 cars and 44 motorbikes were stopped. Officers checked the compliance of all these vehicles with The Road Traffic Act.

5 tickets were given for non-compliant number plates
1 x lorry was turned around due to breaching the 7.5T weight restriction.

We will be conducting further traffic operations like this at various locations around the High Peak as we continue our zero tolerance approach to motorists who do not comply with the law and use our roads as race tracks.

We would again, like to thank everyone who stopped for these checks and the positive feedback we received from both motorists and residents throughout the day.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
