Dear Members,
Here’s a quick round up from the Acocks Green neighbourhood policing team.
- On Tuesday 19th, Officers from Acocks Green NHT responded to a major RTC on Longstreet in Sparkbrook involving 6 vehicles, where a car was speeding on a 20MPH road and crashed into 5 other cars, causing serious damage and distress to the local residents. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, with the driver of the suspect vehicle only having minor injuries.
- On Wednesday 20th, Officers from Acocks Green NHT were called to a residence on Greswolde Park Road. It was found that the house was being used to cultivate and grow Class C Drug Cannabis. The value of the cannabis seized was estimated at a value of £150-200,000.
- Throughout the week, Officers and PCSO’s have been taking part in Targeted Guardian Patrols in response to community concerns regarding rampant drug use in public streets, aggressive begging and reported violent disorders in the street. Officers have been moving on these individuals, issuing Community Protection Warnings and Notices, which will provide extra power to arrest and take persistent individuals into police custody.
- PCSO’s also organised a meeting earlier this week for concerned residents in the Acocks Green Library to come and make us aware of any issues that are ruining the quality of life of local residents. With this meeting, issues have been highlighted to the NHT and solutions are being discussed to combat these issues, particularly the homeless and drug users.
