Volunteer Police Cadet scheme

Dear Resident

Do you know anyone aged between 13 and 18 years old and looking for a new challenge? Do they want to try something different and make new friends? If so, joining the Volunteer Police Cadet scheme could be the perfect option!

As well as learning about police procedures and the law, cadets also play a vital role in community events, engaging with members of the public and educating them on crime prevention. During their sessions, cadets receive talks and demonstrations from serving police officers and get inputs from other emergency services.

Specialist departments such as the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Armed Policing Unit and Dog Unit also give regular talks.

There is also the opportunity to take part in a range of social and exciting outdoor activities such as white-water rafting, weekend trips and summer camps, court visits and foot patrols at local music festivals.

Joining the police cadets is a great way to learn and participate in a wide variety of activities.

You don’t need to have an aspiration to work in the police, just an appetite to try something new!

Cadet groups are led by Police Officers, PCSOs and volunteers who support young people in their development.

It’s also a fantastic asset to have on your CV or university application.

If you know a young person who is looking for new challenges and experiences, please let them know that we’re recruiting.

To apply, please visit our website at https://orlo.uk/2GrTH or email RCountyCadets@herts.police.uk.
