Knowle Weekly Update - 22/08/25

Hello,

This week we have completed a StreetWatch patrol with volunteers from the community who wish to make their area a safer place to live. We also completed a SpeedWatch in Chadwick End, catching 31 speeders with the fastest going 54 in a 30! We have also been out to discuss setting up more SpeedWatch groups around Knowle to tackle to most dangerous roads.

What crime has happened in the last 9 Days?

  • Burglary – 14/08 – Oldway Drive
    • Snapped lock to side door, triggering the alarm. Offenders then made off, nothing stolen.
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle – 21/08 – Lodge Road
    • Keyless entry to BMW stolen from driveway.
  •

    Crime prevention advice:

There has been an increase in the number of burglaries over the past week. There are two different burglaries that we are noticing: Car key Burglary or quick grabs. Offenders are snapping the lock of the rear door to gain entry in both cases. To prevent this from happening, we highly recommend anti-snap locks to be installed on all accessible doors to your property. These prevent the barrel of your lock from being snapped and allowing an offender to walk right in. Anti-snap locks are easily fitted by just changing the barrel of your lock. Look out for the symbol shown below to make sure your locks are anti-snap.

Protect your keyless cars with faraday bags to block your car’s signal. In less than 3 minutes, an offender can copy a signal, link it to their blank key and use that to enter your vehicle and drive away. Steering wheel locks also help against keyless entry as it becomes another obstacle for offenders to try and get through.

CCTV is a really useful tool for us to use in investigations as it allows us to see the offence happening, any offenders and what they are wearing or a direction of travel in their escape. If you haven’t already, sign up to our CCTV registry to receive alerts when your footage may help us with incidents in your area - CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police
