Ninja Swords |
||
Throughout July we joined police forces across England and Wales by supporting a Home Office (HO) surrender scheme for ninja swords. The scheme resulted in 69 swords being handed in at Met police stations.
As of Friday 1 August, ninja swords join the list of prohibited weapons, alongside zombie-style knives and machetes. This makes it an offence to possess them in private as well as to import, buy, sell or manufacture these weapons (Criminal Justice Act 1988 Offensive Weapons Order 1988/S141 Criminal Justice Act 1988).
In addition to the Ninja Sword Surrender Scheme, the HO also introduced a mobile surrender van, facilitated by FazAmnesty, who visited various boroughs across London. They collected over 700 knives and other weapons including 13 ninja swords throughout July, and we supported the scheme by providing disposal pathways for the bladed weaponry. | ||
