Closure order for shop on Coventry Road

We wanted to update you as the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team have been acting on concerns from the community about 7 Star Grocery Store on Coventry Road.

Following a joint operation with Birmingham Trading Standards in June, and a subsequent follow-up visit, more than a hundred cannisters of nitrous oxide have been recovered.

As our investigation into this continues, the team applied for and were successfully granted a three month closure order, which means anyone who enters the shop risks being fined, arrested, or even sent to prison.

The order lasts until 19 November.

This follows another closure order, granted earlier this year, against a separate store on Coventry Road.

Sergeant Leon Allen, from the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are listening to the community and grateful to residents for reporting their concerns.

“Our team is committed to tackling the supply of drugs and associated disorder they bring, and we will be carrying out further operations throughout the year.
