Chapel Street incident on Monday 18th August

Dear Resident

. 🚨 Update, incident on Chapel Street on Monday 🚨

A number of people have been enquiring about the incident involving 4 puppies on Monday so we will combine an update with an appeal for information.

At approximately midday on Monday 18th August 2025 we attended an incident on Chapel Street Chorley due to a report of a male and female possibly selling stolen puppies.

After a period of searching we located a 25 year old male and a 21 year old female who had recent possession of 4 puppies.  Both were arrested at the scene on suspicion of Theft and animal cruelty.

We can confirm that the 4 dogs have been checked over and they are all safe and receiving ongoing vetinary treatment.

If you were in the Chapel Street area in Chorley between 1130 and 1230 on Monday 18th August (Around the area in the image) and you witnessed any suspicious activity or you have any dash cam footage / CCTV please ring 101 and quote log reference lc-20250818-0561.

We are working closely with the RSPCA on this matter and thanks to Chorley vets for their assistance on the day.

The matter remains under investigation.

A number of members of the public approached the Police on Monday alerting us to the matter and with some invaluable information  so thank you for your assistance.  #YouSaidWeDid
