VEHICLE CRIME

Over the past week, we have received an increase in reports of offenders trying car door handles and stealing items from those that are insecure.

These offences are being reported in Lytham and St Annes, as well as Elswick and Great Eccleston. We do not believe that all of these incidents will be the same offenders, however we are conducting CCTV and house to house enquiries to confirm this.

We understand that NOBODY has the right to enter or steal from your vehicle. However, we would like to provide you with some safeguarding advice to prevent this from happening to you:

  • Ensure all of your doors are shut properly when exiting your vehicle
  • Ensure your vehicle is locked and secured overnight, even if this means double checking the handles
  • If possible, park your vehicle in a secure driveway or garage
  • If possible, park your vehicle in sight of CCTV or Ring doorbells
  • Don't leave any items on show in your vehicle
  • Remove ALL items from your vehicle overnight no matter the value - if they can see it, they will take it!
  • Report any ongoing suspicious activity by calling 999
  •

If you have noticed your vehicle has been interfered with or items have been stolen, PLEASE report this via 101 or our online reporting system.

We have been advised that these incidents are being posted on Facebook and in Community Groups, however they are not being reported to the police. If it isn't reported, we don't know its happened. Your information or CCTV could be crucial for our investigation!

    Thank you
