Community Notice: Vehicle Crime Awareness

Dear Residents,

We want to inform you of a recent increase in thefts from parked vehicles across our area. While this trend is concerning, please be assured that your local policing team is actively responding and working diligently to tackle the issue.

What’s Happening?

In recent weeks, there has been a noticeable rise in incidents involving valuables stolen from vehicles. These crimes are typically opportunistic, with offenders targeting cars that are left unlocked or have items visible inside.

Working Together:

We’ve increased patrols in affected areas and are actively following up on all reports. Your attentiveness and support play a crucial role in keeping our community safe. By staying alert and taking preventative measures, we can reduce these incidents and better detect crime and provide a better targeted response to protect our neighbourhoods from criminality.

If you have concerns or information that could assist our enquiries, please contact us via 101, live chat, or speak directly with your local officer.

How You Can Help and Vehicle Security Tips:

As part of our ongoing efforts to prevent vehicle-related crime, we encourage everyone to take the following precautions:

Secure Your Vehicle:

  • Always ensure your vehicle is locked - even if parked at home.
  • Double-check that windows, sunroofs, and doors are fully closed. Even a small gap can be exploited.
  • Remove Temptation:

  • Keep valuables out of sight or remove them entirely, including bags, electronics, sunglasses, and loose change.
  • Avoid leaving clues like sat nav suction marks or charging cables, which can suggest devices may be hidden inside.
  • Improve Home Security:

  • Install motion-sensor lighting or CCTV to deter criminal activity and this helps us by giving us images of offenders.
  • Secure external storage such as roof racks, toolboxes, and bike mounts.
  • Stay Alert and Report:

  • Report any suspicious activity - such as individuals loitering near vehicles or trying door handles. If it does not seem right to you, report it.
  • Share alerts with neighbours via WhatsApp groups or community boards to keep everyone informed.
  •

    Every small action counts.

By working together and staying vigilant, we can create a safer, more secure environment for all.

Thank you for your continued support.
