Reports of Anti-social behaviour in your area

East Herts is a safe place to live, visit and work however, East Herts Community Safety Partnership* (CSP) has recently received information to suggest that some residents may be witnessing anti-social or nuisance behaviour (ASB) that is affecting their quality of life. To enable the CSP to take positive and robust action against individuals or groups responsible we do require evidence from the community that this type of behaviour is taking place, when and where it is happening, and how it is affecting you and your household. We would like to remind you of the various ways you can report incidents and the support that is available should you experience ASB:

  •  If you rent your property, report to your landlord.  ASB carried out by residents and/or their visitors is deemed as a breach of tenancy and as such can result in legal action against.
  • Call the police non-emergency number - 101 This is charged at a local rate and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  101 online reporting is also available:  herts.police.uk/Report   Always dial 999 in an emergency.
  • Contact the Community Safety Team at East Herts Council on 01279 655261, ext 1423 or 1401 (Monday – Friday) or report online at www.eastherts.gov.uk
  • Call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111

ASB is defined as 'behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person'.
The behaviours could include begging, sleeping in communal areas, noise related issues, shouting and swearing, harassment and intimidation, animal related nuisance such as dog fouling or dogs not under control.
  • If you are aware of anyone sleeping rough in the area, please visit https://thestreetlink.org.uk/ to get help and support.
