Local Priorities Theft - (shoplifting, personal, other) Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Theft - (shoplifting, personal, other), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

A shoplifter has been jailed after he stole food and alcohol worth more than £1,800 from stores in Farnborough.

Joshua Bone, 42, of no fixed abode, stole the items from Tesco Express stores on Cove Road and Chapel Lane as well as the BP garage on Prospect Road between October last year and May 2025.

Bone was charged and later pleaded guilty to 18 counts of theft from a shop. He was jailed for eight months at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Wednesday 13 August.

Police Sergeant Lee Bishop, from the Farnborough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We know that Joshua Bone’s behaviour has had a huge impact on businesses, shop workers and the wider community.

"Our message is clear – shoplifting and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Farnborough.

"We take all reports of shoplifting extremely seriously and I hope this result reassures the local community that we will do all we can to put offenders before the courts."

If you are a shop owner or staff member, please continue to report any shopliftings to us. With your information, we can take action, including arresting and charging suspects and convicting offenders at court.
