Burglary - Residential - London Road, Flamstead, AL3 8HQ. |

Dear Resident
Between On the 18th of August 2025, approximately between 01:00hrs and 02:00hrs, a burglary took place at London Road, Flamstead, AL3 8HQ.
On Monday 18th August 2025 the victim was woken up at 01:00 hours to creaking on the staircase. The victim has then got out of bed and turned on the landing light to check the dog wasn't coming upstairs and has gone back to bed. Roughly one hour later the victim's partner has woken up and gone downstairs to get a drink of water and noticed the dog was locked in the living room which is not where he left the dog. He has then noticed the window was open and had been drilled into and the back door was wide open. The victim has then phoned police. Upon police arrival a number of bank cards was located outside by the back gate and a case. The victim has then discovered his wallet had been stolen along with £155 cash and Frank Muller which was worth between £2500-£3000.

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
