Local Priorities Parking issues Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Parking issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Yesterday afternoon two of our Special Constables visited the area of Cromwell's Bridge at Clitheroe and issued a number of tickets for parking adjacent to the solid double white lines. I know that I will now get a raft of comments about all the other things that they should have been doing!!

However......apart from the fact that this offence carries 3 points on your licence and a fine, it is dangerous. Parking next to the double white lines forces other traffic onto the wrong side of the road and into the path of oncoming vehicles. Add into the mix that this is on a blind bend and that the roads are full of farm equipment and the issue is further compounded.

We actually had some signs made which are clearly displayed in the area and warn of the offence and the penalty. I am not sure how much more helpful we could be??

Special Inspector Rob Frost and Special Constable Shahrukh Ilyas took the time to speak with other people in the area and explain what they were doing and why. They also had cause to speak with drivers who were actually parking adjacent to the white lines as they were issuing tickets to other cars!!!???

Please find somewhere safe and legal to leave your car and avoid an unpleasant surprise when you get back to it.
