Local SNT community engagements |
||
As Police community support officers the community is the centre of our job and engaging with the members of the community in Hackney downs enables us tackle the most pressing issues. This week the enforcement team from Hackney council joined us in a joint patrol to conduct a visibility patrols around the areas that are well known to us for anti-social behaviour. Our major focus were on drug related ASB in Hackney downs park, residential burglaries, phone theft snatches as well as getting as much residents to sign up on the METENGAGE platform.
We’ve conducted several patrols around the park at different times but specifically evening times and early afternoons as its been reported that those times are the peak times for drug related ASB. We conducted weapon sweeps in search for any hidden weapons or drug paraphilia in the park. Our presence in the park acts not only deterrence but also enable us gather intelligence on these perpetrators and how they operate. We also issued several Anti-social behaviour warnings to drug users that frequent the park for drug using purposes. We are gathering as much information as possible to take action in tackling these problems.
Our visit to the nightingale community centre on Saturday was a memorable one. Listening to the members of the community and showing support to the most vulnerable that live within the ward, getting as much feedback as we can and also providing reassurance to our residents.
