Local Priorities Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle Crime - theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Dear Residents,

Your Rural Community Police Officers from Riseley would like to inform you that there has been a recent increase in thefts from vehicles in the Wixams area. Please remain vigilant and take the following precautions to help protect your property:

πŸš— Vehicle Security Tips
1. Always lock your vehicle – even if you're just stepping away for a moment.
2. Close all windows and sunroofs – thieves can exploit even small openings.
3. Remove valuables – never leave items like bags, electronics, or tools visible inside.
4. Hide charging cables – they suggest a device may be hidden in the vehicle.
5. Use a steering wheel lock – a visible deterrent that adds an extra layer of security.
6. Install a car alarm or immobiliser – if not already fitted, consider upgrading.
7. Park in well-lit areas – lighting deters opportunistic thieves.
8. Use driveway security posts or bollards – especially for high-value vehicles.

🏠 Driveway & Roadside Security
1. Install motion-activated lights – sudden illumination can deter criminals.
2. Use CCTV or smart doorbell cameras – visible surveillance is a strong deterrent.
3. Keep hedges and fences low – avoid giving thieves cover to operate unseen.
4. Consider a driveway alarm – alerts you when someone enters your property.

πŸ“± Tech & Tracking
1. GPS tracking devices – discreet trackers can help recover stolen vehicles.
2. Smartphone apps – some allow remote locking or alert you to suspicious activity.
3. Dashcams with parking mode – record movement around your vehicle even when parked.

🧠 Good Habits
1. Double-check before bed – make it routine to check your vehicle is secure.
2. Report suspicious activity – even if nothing was stolen, it helps build intelligence.
3. Mark tools and valuables – use UV pens or property marking kits.

Your awareness and cooperation can make a big difference in keeping your community safe.

Thank you for your continued support.
