CBO bans shoplifter from Hereford store |
||
A prolific shoplifter who targeted a Tesco store in Hereford has been served with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from the shop. Brandon Chippendale, 22, of Pixley Walk, Hereford, was given the CBO by Herefordshire Magistrates Court yesterday (Tuesday 12 August). The CBO last for two years and means Chippendale cannot enter Tesco Express on Holme Lacey Road, Hereford. It follows his conviction for 13 charges – 11 for theft from shop and two further charges of a public order offence and failing to surrender to bail. Chippendale’s thefts occurred between April and May of this year, totalling £171.80, all thefts of alcohol and confectionery/food. As well as the CBO, he was sentenced to a 12-month community order requiring him to complete 65 hours unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £171.80 and £85 crown prosecution costs. Police Sergeant Duncan Reynolds, of the Hereford city centre team, said: " We understand the impact shoplifting and acquisitive crime has on our local retailers and communities and take such offences seriously. “This CBO and court result shows we will always pursue criminals, and we will robustly apply for orders to manage and prevent any future offending to help make Herefordshire a safer place for all. “Anyone who sees Chippendale entering these premises or committing an offence should report it to us at Report a crime | West Mercia Police .” #SaferStreetsSummer | ||
