You Said, We did - John St Parking

Hello Resident

Thank you for responding to our survey.

We are working hard to tackle Parking concerns in John Street, Porthcawl.

Following reports of drivers flouting the traffic order currently in place within the pedestrian zone area of John Street, we have:

  • Educated drivers by stopping vehicles at the entrance to the pedestrian zone to check if they either had a blue badge or were loading/unloading.
  • Visitors to the street on foot were also provided with information regarding the rules of the traffic order.
  • Issued a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for vehicle parked illegally in the street after 11am.
  •

We will be carrying out further checks in the near future to continue educating drivers and if necessary, issue FPN’s for vehicles committing offences.

The traffic order in place which is highlighted by two large signs at the entrance to the pedestrian zone state:

No vehicles except valid blue badge holders and for loading between the hours of 5pm and 11am.

Thank you for your help. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can prevent and detect crime.

Anti-social behaviour covers a wide range of unacceptable activity that causes harm to an individual, to their community or to their environment. This could be an action by someone else that leaves you feeling alarmed, harassed, or distressed. It also includes fear of crime or concern for public safety, public disorder, or public nuisance.

If you are experiencing problems with anti-social behaviour, or have any concerns about it, or other community safety issues, you should contact your local council or report this to us online. In an emergency, if you or your property are at risk, or a crime is in progress call 999.

Do you need to speak to the police but don’t require an emergency response?

You can make an online report via our website https://www.south-wales.police.uk, send us a private message via Live Chat, or call 101. In an emergency always dial 999.
