Dear Residents
An update from your local Sherbourne Police Team.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?
We have had a report of a burglary in Grayswood Avenue. Unfortunately, the offenders gained access at the front of the property by smashing the front door.
We continue to receive reports of shoplifting at the Alvis Retail Park. If you are out and about at that location please report anything suspicious to the store security team or our 101 reporting line. Officers will be at the Retail Park conducting mobile and foot patrols. This is also due to the area being vulnerable to anti-social behaviour.
A theft from a motor vehicle has been reported at the Alvis Retail Park. The vehicle was a white Ford panel van and was parked at B&Q. Offenders cut a hole in the side of the van and stole tools from it.
Officers have been conducting stop searches under Section 23 of the misuse of drugs act. Mobile phones, cash and some synthetic cannabis were found. This incident was found and dealt with by officers being mobile in the neighbourhood and knowing where to look.
Officers have been conducting proactive patrols in the neighbourhood to try and combat e bikes and illegal scooters. As you can appreciate, it is very difficult to stop these bikes but we have been successful in confiscating some of them.
SPEED WATCH
If you have any concerns with speeding cars please email our team inbox or report on our 101 number and we can organise a community speed watch. We do conduct regular speed watches, however, if we are unaware of a location that’s of particular concern then we need to be made aware. The community are more than welcome to get involved with this activity and your local councillor will be invited along.
And Finally……
Please remember to secure you’re properties when you go out. Opportunist burglars will try and gain access through any open window. The weather has been very hot and burglars know that residents will open their windows, just be mindful to shut them, this is also relevant for outbuildings and vehicles.
GET INVOLVED Street watch is a community patrol initiative that helps you make a difference where you live. Street watch gives you and your community an opportunity to keep your area safe, including just walking round your neighbourhood, which can really help. Local police keep in regular contact with street watch members to share information and work in partnership with you. You will also be patrolling with your local PCSO’s once a month.
