Good Evening Resident

Chelmsley Wood Newsletter 7th August 2025

WOW what can I say. . . . . . what an absolute amazing Open Day we had yesterday.

I said the gates would be open and 1,350 of you poured through them. The weather was great, the puppies were so cute and to top it all we raised over £500. For Macmillan Cancer Support.

A huge hello and welcome to all our new members, the Cadets & PCSO’s worked so hard signing up just shy of 100 new members to WMNow. I will say mainly Cadets as they popped 72 forms on my desk to input, well done guys you really make us proud.

If you were there you will have noticed our wonderful Cadets at their gazebo, I even heard the drum being played a couple of times amongst the vehicle sirens. We now have a very successful Cadet Unit at Chelmsley Wood and the CoOrdinator Liz is holding a waiting list due to the interest, she would love to offer this great opportunity to more 13-17yr olds and would willingly run two troupes. BUT to do this she really needs more Cadet Leaders, did you see my message earlier? Is this something you would like to do.

 Volunteer Cadet Leaders

Our Cadet Leadership Team consist of a Unit Commander, Deputy and Leaders; some whom are Police personnel but most are from all walks of like and are external to the police force.

We have amazing volunteers, aged 18 and above and we would really appreciate your knowledge, experience and importantly your life skills and experience.

Our Cadet Leaders empower young people and ensure all our Cadets can gain access to new opportunities.

Reply to this message or email liz.curran@westmidlands.police.uk if you have any queries or would like to apply.

My Thanks to the Chelmsley Wood Streetwatch Team for helping me on the Neighbourhood Crime Prevention stand, your help & company is really appreciated.

I'm sharing the cutie on the Police bike with his mums permission as he is my Great Nephew.

In other news this week we have arrested a prolific shoplifter on recall to prison and a young person on suspicion of robbery who ended up being charged with Take with consent.

Myself and PC Darbyshire had a lovely morning at the Christian Renewal Centre on Walnut Walk meeting young people with special needs earlier this week.  The children were so happy and had lots of activities to keep them entertained. One young lad particularly enjoyed looking at the handcuffs I’m really glad we didn’t loose the key. Thank you to all the staff and carers for making us so welcome.

  • At 08:16hrs on 7th Aug, an unknown male has entered a house on Plane Grove via the front door and stolen games consoles and a mobile phone whilst the homeowner was upstairs.
  • ‘Relay theft’, occurs when a device is used to fool the car into thinking the car’s own remote key fob is close by; this unlocks the car and allows the ignition to be started.

If you own a keyless ignition vehicle then please consider purchasing a faraday pouch to keep your fob secure. For all vehicles a great security measure is to have a steering lock. Please park your vehicle in a visible and well- lit area when possible, please make sure your vehicle is locked and no valuables are left inside.

TOWN CENTRE UPDATES from PCSO Ahmed

Officers continue to patrol the town centre on foot in an effort to deter any ASB and shoplifting as there is still a PSPO in place which prevents people from wearing a face covering, riding a motorbike, e-bike, quadbike or bicycle within the restricted area, and restrictions on groups of 3+ causing ASB.

We are continuously working with security staff and shopkeepers to prevent shoplifting and are continuously arresting prolific shoplifters. One adult male was taken into custody who was in breach of his criminal behaviour order, and is currently assisting with our enquiries.

Don’t forget that on the Wednsday 13th of August, we will be hosting a cuppa with a coppa on the town centre at 14A Maple Walk at Lily’s Tea Parlour – it would be great to see you there.

Hope to see some of you next week at Cuppa with a Coppa

    Stay safe & well

    Have a great weekend

    PCSO Vicki & PC Stiles
