Stolen Motor Vehicle-Woodstock Road North

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime – theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

We are investigating two separate stolen cars that have happened on the road within the last month. The first occurred overnight on the 6th July-7th July, enquiries already carried out, and the second, a Kia stolen which has since been recovered, occurred on the 31st July at approx 3:50am. If you have any CCTV that would help in our investigation please email me directly at bradley.flanagan@herts.police.uk.

Unfortunately car thefts are an increasing crime with keyless cars mainly being targeted. If you have a car, particularly a keyless car, we advise taking proactive steps in implementing target hardening measures to make it harder to be stolen. Manufacture trackers are often easily disabled and some criminal groups have found a work around faraday bags. We have had positive results of vehicles being recovered whereby the owners have hid very small air trackers in car which can be tracked from their phone.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.herts.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
