July Newsletter Stoneygate Edition
Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Stoneygate Ward Neighbourhood Policing Area East Leicester. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
– PCSO 6861 Sam Trantom
PCSO Trantom has been working in conjunction with our new Safer Streets team of three PCs. They will be taking the lead on following up on any breaches of the CPNWs. At the moment, the group have been staying away. PCSO Trantom is leading an investigation into reports of youths hanging around Maple Court on Sparkenhoe Street involved in smoking drugs and general anti-social behaviour. He is working in conjunction with the housing officer. PC Patecka and PCSO Akhtar have been following up on concerns of residents on Laurel Road that a chemical smell has been happening. After joint visits with other agencies, it has been established this has come from burning of items in a rear garden. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue have issued a warning to the property. As part of our consultations, some fire-setting of waste bins have also been taking place and this is being looked into. Hopefully this will reassure local residents. Please do report any ASB issues through to us via 101 or by emailing communitysafety@leicester.gov.uk True to prediction in last month’s update, PC Robinson has been out there looking to disrupt drug activity. Another great result by the NPT on our beat includes a warrant that was executed on Avon Street. The defendant He was given 8 months sentence for the PWITS cannabis and 292 weeks for PWITS cocaine. This is obviously a significant sentence, and he was also on licence with 8 years left to serve on this. This is a significant result for the beat and our thanks to PC Dudman especially! PC Robinson and PC Woolley have been patrolling together on the beat and conducting numerous stop checks. We realise that the situation on Evington Road, especially at busy times, remains a challenge for road users. Several Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) have been issued and motorists spoken to and a vehicle has been seized for having no insurance. At the end of the month PC Robinson has charged a male with drink driving and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. These efforts are part of our endeavours to make the roads safer and educate motorists.
