Thefts on new build estates.

🚨 Theft Alert – New Build Estates đŸš¨

The Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team are seeing an increase in thefts from newly built estates in the area. Offenders are targeting these developments for several reasons, and we want to ensure you are informed and prepared.

Why new build areas are being targeted:

. Ongoing construction: Unfinished sites often have fewer residents and security patrols, making them easier to access.

. New possessions: Recently moved-in residents tend to have new household items, tools, and deliveries—prime targets for opportunistic thieves.

. Unlocked or unsecured properties: Builders, contractors, and new residents coming and going can mean doors, garages, or sheds are left open or unlocked.

. Limited lighting/CCTV: Some new streets are yet to have full street lighting or installed surveillance, giving criminals more cover at night.

. Parcel thefts: Delivery packages left unattended are easy pickings in quieter, less established neighbourhoods.

🔐 How you can protect your property:

• Always lock doors and windows—even during the day

• Install security lighting or a doorbell camera if possible

• Secure tools, bikes, and garden equipment out of sight

• Don’t leave packaging for expensive items outside—flatten or conceal it

• Report any suspicious activity or vehicles: Call 101 or online. Dial 999 in an emergency.

👮‍♂️ The Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team are working closely with developers and increasing patrols to deter incidents. We’re also offering crime prevention advice to residents and site workers. Please contact the team at: Nedge.snt@westmercia.police.uk for further advice.

It's only by working together that we can tackle crime like this.

Kind regards

Nedge Safer Neighbourhood Team
