Weekly Round-up!

Good Evening Resident,

I'm back with your weekly round-up from the Wolverhampton City Centre neighbourhood team!

Whats Been Happening

Arrests - A large scale disorder took place on Parkfields road in the early hours of Sunday morning, thankfully officers from the outer sectors were quick to respond and a total of 9 arrests were made at the time, with incident enquiries ongoing. 8 further arrests were made this week by City Centre officers regarding multiple other incidents including possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a Class B drug, theft and assault. Two of these arrests were for a £400 theft from a City Centre retailer where the offenders were both under the age of 18.

Community Protection - Sunday also saw our own PCSO Shotton helping out on Broad Street where a fire had started at the back of the buildings, spreading into the shops. PCSO Shotton was on hand to help with the road closure whilst fire crews from West Midlands Fire Service made sure everyone was evacuated, the fires were extinguished and the buildings were made safe. This is the third fire in the city centre in the past couple of weeks but thankfully Fire Crews have been able to keep building damage to a minimum and no threat to life has occurred.

Community Engagement - A Crime Prevention Stand was held by PCSO Wykes at the Central library this week with a flying visit from PC Kidson, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who popped in and we look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Two protests took place this week with accompanying counter protests, Officers were on hand to make sure it was kept to a peaceful protest and nothing escalated into a disorder, we were happy to see that everyone from both parties were in good spirits.

Guardian Patrols - Our officers primary attention this week was focused on the ongoing issues around St Peters Gardens, Victoria Street and Market Street where we seem to be seeing a slight increase in Anti-Social Behaviour. All of our patrols this week were carried out with no issues to report even with the increased footfall we are seeing due to the school holidays.

Night-Time Economy - Our first late shift this week was on Thursday, and this had us tasked with monitoring an event at the Gorgeous Nightclub. The event was held for Under 16s to get together and have some fun during the holidays, we did receive intel on the lead up to the event regarding possible disturbances and planned activity, but thankfully none of this happened and the night was enjoyed by all who attended. Friday night kicked off our Night Time Economy patrols and were hoping that its a pleasant experience for everyone planning a night out in Wolverhampton.

What to Watch - Detailed below in our upcoming events section, we have a Cuppa with a Copper meeting approaching. This meeting will be a little different to my usual as i will be joined by the City centre Designated neighbourhood Officer for Business, PC Bellars and also Mr Chris Jellyman, Neighbourhood Safety Coordinator for Wolverhampton City Council. So this is your chance to come along whether your a resident of the City Centre, a student studying at Uni or a Business owner looking to find out what we can do to help you keep your business safe. (THIS MEETINGS PRIMARY OBJECTIVES ARE ANY ISSUES RELATED TO THE CITY CENTRE, WITHIN THE RING ROAD)
