Launched in April 2025 by the Eastfield and Scarborough Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, Operation ParkSmart is a targeted initiative focused on tackling driving offences outside schools. The operation aims to improve road safety for children, parents, and school staff by addressing unsafe and illegal driving behaviours during school drop-off and pick-up times.
Since its launch, officers have issued 49 tickets for a range of driving offences, including illegal parking, using a mobile phone whilst driving and failing to comply with indication given by a traffic sign. These enforcement efforts have been supported by community engagement and education to promote safer driving habits.
Operation ParkSmart will resume in September, coinciding with the start of the new school term, as the team continues its commitment to ensuring the safety of pupils and the wider community.
We thank residents and parents for their ongoing support and cooperation. |
