Police Response to Anti-Social Behaviour

Good afternoon,

Neighbourhood officer PC Scott, who is based in Marple and Hazel Grove, has been made aware of numerous reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around the Offerton area, more specifically around Offerton High School and surrounding areas as this building is derelict and ahs been unused for several years. 

This has made the area a hotspot for young people congregating and entering the unused building.

There are serious concerns for the safety of the young people due to the unstable structure of the building. Issues surrounding possible criminal damage and trespass have also been highlighted. Due to this, efforts have been made and continue to be made by neighbourhood officers to provide more presence in the area in the form of mobile and foot patrols. We are tackling the issue by conducting stop searches of individuals in the area suspected to be participating in ASB.
