Could you be an on-call firefighter at Brewood Fire Station?

Our local safety partner, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, are currently recruiting on-call firefighters for Brewood Fire Station.

We’re helping them to spread the word in the local community, so if you know someone who would be interested in the chance to become a firefighter please pass this on.

Details about the role:

On-call firefighters are members of the local community who are paid to respond to incidents from home or work instead of being based at the station.

They receive the same training and attend the same types of incidents as full-time firefighters, but they work their on-call hours flexibly around other jobs, childcare and hobbies.

The local crew:

At the moment there are 10 crew working on-call at Brewood and the crew has a range of experience from 1 to 32 years.

When they’re not on-call the crew work in a range of roles including wholetime firefighter, tradesperson, cleaner and student, fitting their on-call hours around our existing commitments.

How to apply:

If you’re interested in applying for the role, or would like a chat with the local team to understand how it could work for you, you can find more details here: https://www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk/careers/on-call-firefighters/

Book your place at the on-call taster session (13 August 2025):

If you are interested in the on-call role you can book a place at a special on-call taster event happening at Penkridge Fire and Police Station on Wednesday 13 August from 6pm to 9pm.

The event is a mixture of theory and practical to help you get a better idea of how the role could work for you.
