Local Priorities Dangerous driving / speeding Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding dangerous driving and speeding, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Dear Residents,

We acknowledge your concerns regarding dangerous driving and speeding on Markhouse Ward Queens Road E17.
We wanted to provide you with an update on this matter.

On 29th of July 2025 there was a joint operation involving various Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, Traffic Officers, Waltham Forest ASB officer and the local councillor to tackle dangerous driving. The operation was also to check car insurance and MOT's as well as included the use of speed gun.
The operation resulted in 16 stops of 7 mopeds, 6 cars, 2 vans, and 1 electric bike. Three traffic offences were given. Officers also engaging with the community to explain the purpose of the operation.

Markhouse SNT team would like to say Thank you for the positive feedback we received from community.


If someone is driving a motor vehicle, they should always be doing so in a safe and considerate manner. Even momentary lapses in judgement can have life changing or devastating consequences for those in the vehicle or innocent bystanders.
