Anti-social behaviour (ASB) St Martin's Field New Romney and Brookland

Hello all.

Today I was called to St Martin's Field New Romney due to a report of youths using a catapult and ball bearings to target some fencing to private properties. 4 youths all 16-17 years old were stopped and as a result of stop searches, a bag of silver metal ball bearings were located and seized, unfortunately the catapult wasn't located.

Home visits will be conducted to let parents/guardians know what their sons are up to when they're out.

St Martin's Field seems to be a bit of a magnet for certain youths who like to let everyone know how much noise they can make, smoke Cannabis and be belligerent when asked to stop their ASB ways by members of the public but if we identify them, they'll be receiving home visits from us at the very least.

I appreciate that ASB type incidents happen in multiple locations on the Marsh but I just wanted you to be aware that we do take these reports seriously and act where we can.

Brookland has also been experiencing some ASB of late, not for the first time I know, but I spoke with a group of youths yesterday and apart from a bit of cheek, I'm hoping that they will heed my reasonable request to respect the residents and conduct themselves in a more appropriate manner.

Some information for the residents of Brookland, the playing field in Boarman's Lane behind the school and cemetery is not to be used by anyone unless you have exclusive permission from the head teacher at the school so please don't allow your children to play on this piece of land, thank you.

If anyone is experiencing ASB, please let us know and we will do as much as we can to stop it.

ASB can cover a wide range of issues from a noisy car exhaust to children knocking on your front door and running away so if any behaviour by someone else is affecting your day to day life in a negative way, please let us know.

You can contact me as well but as long as you report it first via the Kent Police website online reporting/101 non-emergency number and obviously if it's a crime in progress then 999.

Thank you

Steve.
