Women’s Safety Walkabout, Bloomsbury
Date and Time: Thursday 17th July, 5pm – 6.30pm
Meeting Point: Russell Square Gardens, WC1B 5EH

This walkabout has been arranged to look at women’s safety in a part of the Bloomsbury ward. The aim is to look at specific locations that have been highlighted to the council and police’s attention regarding areas that feel unsafe. Violence Against Women by the community as areas where people may feel unsafe, particularly in relation to the evening and night time environment. Addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) remains a shared priority for both the council and the police.

 

Walk route: 

 

1) Meet in the centre of Russell Square Gardens. 

2) Exit via Bedford Place and continue to Bloomsbury Square Gardens. 

3) Walk along Great Russell Street to the junction with Tottenham Court Road (near the Dominion Theatre). 

4) Head north up Tottenham Court Road, turning left onto Percy Street. 

5) Turn right onto Charlotte Street, then immediately right again onto Windmill Street. 

6) Follow Windmill Street as it curves left onto Whitfield Street. 

7) Continue down Whitfield Street, passing Crabtree Fields, the rear of Goodge Street Station, and Whitfield Gardens, until you reach Howland Street. 

8) From Howland Street, return to Tottenham Court Road, then turn right and left to join Torrington Place. 

9) Walk down Torrington Place, then turn left onto Gower Street. 

10) Continue on Gower Street, then turn onto University Street. 

11) Follow University Street to Tottenham Court Road, then turn right toward Warren Street Station. 

12) Finish at Warren Street Underground Station.
