E-Scooters

Dear Resident

We have received reports recently of young children riding E-Scooters in your local area.

As a result, I will be stepping up patrols in the area looking to tackle the nuisance these E-scooters cause, already this month your Neighbourhood Policing team have sized over 7 scooters and we are continuing to tackle these issues as part of our Summer of Action.

In sending out this message I am hoping to educate the local community so that it is known if you or your children are caught on one there is a very real chance you will be prosecuted for driving offences.

A reminder that E-scooters are ONLY permitted to be used on PRIVATE land with the landowners consent and CANNOT be ridden on public roads, pavements or cycle paths.

There have been a number of reported incidents resulting in injuries of children and other road users regarding these scooters, there is a national concern regarding the use of E-scooters in local communities and police are actively encouraging parents to ensure that their children are not seen to be riding these scooters on pavements or public places. They are not toys and unfortunately can cause serious injuries. We have a duty to protect the wider public as well as those who ride these scooters.

Many Thanks
