Dispersal order in place for Stoke town centre

A special order has been granted to enable officers to disperse groups of people in Stoke town centre this weekend.

The dispersal order has been granted as part of our efforts to tackle persistent anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and public disorder in the area.

The order comes into effect at 3pm tomorrow (Friday 11 July) and lasts for 48 hours.

Inspector Rebecca Price, of our Stoke-on-Trent south local policing team, said: “We are receiving increasing numbers of reports of anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in this area.

“This action is in response to community concerns and we are doing all we can to maintain public safety and confidence whilst addressing these reports.”

We’re also increasing how visible and accessible we are to local communities across Staffordshire as part of our #problemsolvingpolicing approach. More officers are out and about on the beat, speaking to local people and businesses about the issues affecting them the most in hotspot areas for anti-social behaviour and crime.

To report anti-social behaviour or other concerns in our area, call 101, use Live Chat on our website or call 999 in an emergency.
