Knowle Weekly Update |
||
Hello, This week we have been monitoring speeding through our community Speed Watch schemes – catching 37 speeders in an hour through Chadwick End, with the fastest going 52 in a 30! We have also been patrolling key areas as part of a crackdown on Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB).
What crime has happened in the last 9 Days?
Crime prevention advice: Although Knowle hasn’t been targeted as much, we have been seeing a lot of vehicle thefts in the surrounding areas. All of these thefts have been from keyless entry so a Faraday bag is highly recommended. This prevents the signal from your car key being picked up by a relay device (looks like a big antenna with wires). On the subject of vehicle thefts, a steering wheel lock is also recommended – just remember to keep the keys to the lock separate from your car keys. The steering locks act as a deterrent for thieves so make sure you use them even when you are out parking in car parks. Similarly, daytime burglaries are starting to rise again as people are more likely to be out of the house enjoying the warmer weather. Offenders usually gain entry from the back and steal whatever jewellery and small valuables they can through a messy search. Anti-Snap Locks are good at preventing entry via lock snapping – all you have to do is change the barrel of the lock.
What are we up to next week?
